This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and process your personal information when you use the Trip Logbook Application and website. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully.

1. Introduction

1.1 “the service” and “this service” refers to the Trip Logbook Mobile Application and the Trip Logbook Web site (www.triplogbook.co.za).
1.2 “user” and "you" refers to any person that uses, accesses and/or installs the service.
1.3 By using, accessing or installing this service, you acknowledge that you:
1.3.1 Have read this privacy policy.
1.3.2 Agree to this privacy policy.
1.4 Please do not install, use or access this service if you do not agree with this Privacy Policy.
1.5.Your information is held in the strictest confidence and we will use reasonable measures to protect your information. While we take such reasonable measures, it cannot and does not guarantee the absolute security and safety of your confidential information shared with or gathered through this service.

2. Minimum Age

2.1 This service is not targeted at persons under the age of 18.
2.2 By registering for and accessing this service, you accept this Privacy Policy and you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

3. Changes to this Privacy Policy

3.1 You should review this Privacy Policy periodically because we can make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time.
3.2 Your continued use of the service indicates your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.

4. Why do we collect your information?

We collect and process the information to:
4.1 Protect and secure the service.
4.2 Deliver and maintain the service.
4.3 Optimise, enhance and improve the service.
4.4 Provide support.
4.5 Understand your correspondence.
4.6 Respond to your queries and requests.
4.7 Resolve disputes.

5. What information do we collect?

5.1 We collect information such as your name and email address you provide to us when you sign up for an account or when you contact us for support via email.
5.2 We will retain your information for as long as you have an account with us. Your data may persist on backup media.
5.3 When you discontinue this service and/or request that your account be closed, we will retain your information as necessary to comply with our obligations for tax, legal and regulatory purposes.
5.4 You agree to receive email related to your account activity, which include (but is not limited to) email verification, two factor authentication and password reset confirmation. Emails directly related to changes to your account is not optional.
5.5 You agree to receive email with general announcements regarding our service delivery to you. Mail not directly related to your account activity will include an opt-out.
5.6 We use various technologies, such as GPS, Cellular Networks and Wi-Fi to determine your location for the purpose of logging your trips on your device. Location information associated with your trips is not stored on our servers.
5.7 Your vehicle information, places, trip reasons, route attributes and trip log history will be stored on your local device only. We do not store any of this information on our servers. This is by design because we store only limited user information which is absolutely necessary. Your data is your responsibility. It is important to note that we have no way to recover missing or lost vehicle, place, trip reason, route attribute or trip log information as this information is stored on your device only. It is important that you use the backup function to create a backup of your data. You should also export your Trip Logbook information to CSV regularly using the CSV Export function in the Reports(Export) section. Store the backup and CSV files in a secure storage location that is external to your device.
5.8 We do not receive or store credit card or banking information (number, expiration, security code, routing number, account number, etc). Payment information is submitted directly to our payment providers. These providers share information about you with us when you transact with them to purchase our products and services. Transactions include, but is not limited to making payments, cancelling services, requesting refunds and renewing subscriptions.
5.9 We collect and store information from and about the devices you use to access the service. This includes make, model, device type, operating system version, screen size, and device identifier.
5.10 We collect information relating to how you use the service. We use this information to improve the service and develop new services and features.

6. Location Permission

6.1 Trip Logbook will use your location for specific app features. Permission to use location specific features will always be requested first.
6.1.1 Foreground or "While App in Use" location permission is used to help you create places based on your current location.
6.1.2 Background or "Always" location permission is used when Semi Auto - or Auto Logging mode is selected. Location in the background is used to detect when you arrive at or leave one of your predefined places and to estimate the distance you travelled via way points on a travelled route. Your trip Location information is kept locally on your device and is not stored on our servers.

7. Do we share your information?

7.1 We do not sell, disclose, distribute any of your data to third parties to use for their own marketing purposes.
7.2 We may be legally required to disclose your information if required by law enforcement or legal process.

8. Third Party Services

8.1 In addition to the Services we provide directly, we also use third party service providers (collectively referred to as “Third Party Services”) that may provide us with information about you through their own embedded technology. We trust the third party services we use and deem their products and services necessary to improve our service to you. The third party services are listed below with a link to each of their own privacy policies.
8.1.1 Firebase Crashlytics: Used to track, prioritize, and fix bugs in our apps to improve app quality. Google Analytics for Firebase: Used to collect anonymous analytical data to help us better understand how users use our services (only when user enabled). Google Privacy Policy
